Brooks Dougherty has over 18 years of professional experience, including ten years as portfolio manager, investment strategist and analyst at Zurich Scudder Investments where he was a Managing Director and partner.
Mr. Dougherty's superior investment track record includes first-quartile performance as portfolio manager for the long-only Scudder Technology Innovations fund four years in a row. He was also among the top-rated large-cap equity analysts at Zurich Scudder Investments for five years. His areas of investment research expertise include the global telecom, semiconductor, technology, and media industries as well as small cap equities. He has traveled extensively through Southeast and Northeast Asia as part of his technology research due diligence. As a hedge fund manager, he employed extensive use of options overlays to his long/short portfolio in order to manage risk and to structure an investment return.
As a trusted internal consultant to his firm, Mr. Dougherty drove its expansion into the alternative investment space and assessed its M&A opportunities, leading to the firm’s eventual sale. Recently, he led a large-scale project for a multi-national investment banking and asset management firm as a private consultant.
In addition to his extensive experience in financial analysis and modeling (including projections, M&A assessment, and private equity investments), financial risk management, process mapping and gap analysis, Mr. Dougherty brings to the table a distinct talent for getting things done in difficult environments. Again and again he has demonstrated his excellence at listening to clients, building teams, assessing and solving difficult problems, and communicating solutions. He brings a disciplined, quantitative, process-oriented approach to all his work.
Prior to joining Zurich Scudder Investments, Mr. Dougherty spent more than seven years in positions of increasing responsibility with Price Waterhouse Coopers and Precision Business Systems as a consultant and software developer. Brooks was primarily responsible for delivering exceptional management, technology, and software consulting services to a number of well-known institutions in the commercial banking industry.
Mr. Dougherty earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Dartmouth College and received his Masters of Business Administration in Finance from the Tuck School of Business. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and completed the Tuck School’s executive continuing education program in 2006.
